Vice-Chancellor of BUHS honored with BAS Gold Medal

Prof Liaquat Ali, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) has been honored with Gold Medal as a Senior Scientist by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the biological sciences in home and abroad.

Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina distributed the Awards among four Senior Scientists in the country in recognition of their significant contributions to their respective arena of science. In addition she distributed the BAS Gold Medal to Junior Researchers. The ceremony was held on April, 20, 2014 at the Osmany Memorial Auditorium in the capital while the Ministers and higher govt. officials, renowned Scientists, Fellows and Academicians of the country were present on the occasion.

In Her speech, The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed on the dire needs of more research endeavors to take the country forward and assured of all-out cooperation in science and technology.

The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Architect Yeafes Osman addressed on the occasion as the Special Guest while president of Bangladesh Academy of Sciences Dr Mesbahuddin Ahmad delivered the welcome address and former secretary of the organization Prof Dr Naiyyum Chowdhury read out the citation for the award recipients.

In the afternoon the BUHS family members (teachers and employees) gathered together and congratulated Prof Ali on his wonderful achievement at the University campus. A Hafez, Dean, Faculty of Allied Sciences, and …., BUHS among others briefly spoke on the occasion and expressed their heartiest appreciations for the high-status attainment.
